Microsoft SQL Server: High Availability Dedicated Database Hosting

All Alentus SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 databases are available for hosting on any of our Dell PowerEdge Windows servers. Each of our Windows servers is provided with a comprehensive suite of security, backup and support services to extend the functionality of your dedicated SQL Server database.

SQL Server Licensing. With a SQL Server Single Processor License from Alentus, you are allowed an unlimited number of databases and database connections from either your web application and/or your own behind-the-firewall client-server application(s).

SQL Server Connections. Your dedicated SQL Server from Alentus can be managed directly via either Remote Desktop and/or using SQL Server Management Studio, including secure 128-bit Enterprise Manager connections.

SQL Server 2005 Update. The SQL Server 2005 product family from Microsoft has been redesigned to better meet the needs of specific customer segments by introducing four new editions: Express, Workgroup, Standard, and Enterprise. Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2005 is a next-generation data management and analysis solution that helps organizations deliver increased value to their businesses by decreasing the amount of effort that is required to maintain reliable systems, increasing the speed of software development, and enabling companies to take full advantage of their information assets.

SQL Server 2005 makes it simpler and easier to deploy, manage, and optimize enterprise data and analytical applications. With innovative new tools, enhanced self-tuning capabilities, and a powerful new management programming model, SQL Server 2005 extends the ease-of-use of the product and increases the productivity of database administrators (DBAs).



The SQL Server data platform includes the following tools:

  • Relational Database. The highly available relational database engine of SQL Server 2005 is more secure & reliable, with improved performance and support for XML data.
  • Replication Services. SQL Server 2005 extends data replication making it ideal for distributed and mobile applications. For high system availability, replication services allow scalable concurrency with secondary data stores and integration with heterogenous systems, including existing Oracle databases.
  • Notification Services. Large scalable applications deployed or in development are capable of using the advanced notifications services of SQL Server 2005. The notifications can be personalized to deliver messages to any connected device, including mobile devices.
  • Integration Services. SQL Server 2005 includes management tools to allow enterprise-wide data integration, through data extraction, transformation, and loading capabilities for data warehousing.
