Exchange Hosting
If you have a question regarding our Exchange Server Hosting that is not answered here, please feel free to call us toll free at 1.877.922.9903 or contact our Sales Experts using our contact form.
| Q. | Can I have ExchangeMail accounts for some staff and regular POP3 mailboxes for others? |
| A. | Yes. Having both Exchange accounts and POP3 accounts at the same domain requires a split domain. A split domain will occur when you share your domain between two mail servers; where some users@YourDomain.com are on one mail server and other users@YourDomain.com are on another. Alentus will configure the split domain on your behalf. |
| Q. | Can I migrate my current Outlook settings to my Alentus ExchangeMail accounts? |
| A. | Yes. After setting up your Alentus ExchangeMail account, your contacts and calendar are empty and your previous mail folders are in the "Personal Folders" section. Within our Exchange Online Control Panel, we provide an easy-to-follow procedure to import your previous Contacts, Calendar and Mail folders into your new Exchange Mailbox. |
| Q. | What is the maximum size of messages I can send and receive with ExchangeMail? |
| A. | Our Exchange system has limits set for each e-mail message that can be sent or received through our mail servers:
|
| Q. | How are backups performed on my ExchangeMail account? |
| A. | All Exchange accounts are backed up (incrementally) once per day, with full backups performed once per week. The weekly backups are kept for a period of one month. Monthly archives are kept for a period of one year. File restorations are available at an hourly labor charge of $100.00 per hour. |
| Q. | Can I setup a Sender Policy Framework (SPF) for my domain? |
| A. | Yes. SPF is the anti-forgery solution for email. This record combats possible forged return addresses which makes it easier to identify 'spoofed' emails. An SPF record is a one-line entry in your DNS record that indicates which mail servers are permitted to send email with a given from address. SPF is an attempt to counter email address spoofing, in which a sender uses someone else's e-mail address as the apparent sender of an e-mail. |
| Q. | Can I setup a POP3 client to connect to the Exchange Server? |
| A. | Yes. E-mail clients, such as Eudora, Outlook Express, Netscape Mail, Pine, etc., cannot access MS Exchange via the default protocol (MAPI) created by Microsoft. Instead, they must access e-mail via POP3 or IMAP. Note: POP3 access does not allow access to most features of MS Exchange. It only gives access to just receiving and sending e-mail. Your data will not be kept on the server, and therefore you cannot access your full mailbox from anywhere; you will also not be able to share your calendar, folders, Public Folders, Global Address List, etc. |

| Q. | How do I login to my Exchange Control Panel? |
| A. | Using the login credentials supplied in your Exchange Account Welcome Kit, you can login to the Exchange Control Panel at the following URL: |
| Q. | What is the difference between GoodLink and ActiveSync? |
| A. | The main difference between the two is that Good Messaging is full "push" technology and ActiveSync is "pull only". This means that every time there is a change in Mail, Calendar, Tasks, etc., Good Messaging immediately sends that change to your mobile device. With ActiveSync the mobile device has to request updates on a schedule, normally anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes or more. ActiveSync does not sync Notes or Public Folders, but Good Messaging does. |
| Q. | How do I get my free copy of Outlook 2007? |
| A. | Once your Exchange Account is setup, and you have agreed to the Terms & conditions of the service, you will be able to download a copy of Outlook 2007 or Entourage to setup your new Alentus ExchangeMail with. |
| Q. | How many mailboxes can I have? |
| A. | While there is no limit to the number of mailboxes you can have, note that each Exchange user mailbox requires either an ExchangeMail Pro, ExchangeMail Power 500 or ExchangeMail Executive account. Review Plans. |
